Theres a constant tapping I hear in my Enclaves engine and I asked about it within the first 2 days of owning it. The service department determined last week that it was a noise from the purge valve and that the vehicle is safe to drive. They did thorough work to determine what the cause was. They even switched it out with a new one from a different Enclave to see if it would be quieter. They determined that nothing is wrong with it, and its just the way that it sounds. Im grateful they took the time to figure out the problem. Im just frustrated that I have a brand new vehicle that makes an annoying sound. Its discouraging to save up money and make a large purchase, then learn quickly there is something annoying about it. Last week we even asked the salesman if there was an option to have the dealership buy back the vehicle. We looked into it and it would be an enormous financial loss for us and just not an option. So Im stuck with a vehicle for the next 10 years or so that annoys me, and Im trying to accept that theres nothing we can do about it. Ive read online that this is common for GM engines and they confirm that its an annoyance but not a problem with function or safety. I dont understand how a company can have a long standing annoying issue without an option to resolve it. I recognize that there may not be anything the service department can help with any more... it may be a larger issue with GM and not Van Devere. Its still frustrating.
