Confirmed Service Customer
I recently had an issue with my engine overheating. I always get my service done at this dealership because this is where I bought the car. I recently had a service done to my engine for gaskets so I was very concerned about my dashboard lighting up. Justin, my service advisor was very courteous and understanding. Even the mechanic that worked in my car was very courteous. The explanation given to me about my coolant hose and clamp coming loose I understood. What I didn’t understand was how, when I checked my engine oil right after it overheated, there was absolutely no oil on the dip stick. The engine was bone dry, and this was verified by my neighbor who looked at the car with me. The car was towed to vandevere and astonishingly, I was told my engine was only low one quart. This made no sense to me as even though the engine may have been cycling the oil, there would be no explanation as to why the dip stick registered absolutely no oil and was dry. I even waited for the car to cool and measure again. My major concern is that there are no cameras in the shop to address these type of discrepancies. I take blame in the matter only because I should have been with the car when it was dropped off so we could check the oil, or I could have had it towed to another dealer to check the engine before sending it to vandevere. This is something I felt I didn’t have to do because vandevere has always been a great place to visit. I won’t make this mishap again. My goal from this survey is not to point blame, but to bring awareness to the fact that more checks and balances should be in place at a reputable dealership so customers such as myself, don’t feel uneasy about a service. A simple camera check would have eased my apprehension about the answers I was given regarding my service, which didn’t add up in my mind. I still recommend vandevere, but I think it would make it an even better place to receive service, if there were more checks and balances, and cameras in the service bays.
